Healthcare Registered Private Doctors

The Independent General Practice (The IGP) is a Private Doctors Service which was founded in 2004 by Dr Joanna Longstaffe. It was IGP's goal to establish an Independent Private Doctors Surgery in Cardiff which would offer an Alternative Healthcare solution to individual patients, families & businesses.

The IGP became the first Private GP service to be registered with the HIW (Health Inspectorate for Wales); the government body responsible for monitoring the standards of private medical practices in Wales.

Following the initial success of the Cardiff City Centre Practice, IGP opened new clinics in Cardiff Gate, Bridgend, Newport, Swansea & Bristol. The new Cardiff Gate Surgery qualified for hospital status in 2012, allowing us to perform specialist treatments and minor surgery.

Private GP Patient Services

As a patient of the IGP you have direct access to independent medical advice and treatment through private consultation with our experienced doctors. Treatment decisions are tailored to the individual's needs and are not influenced by time restraints, waiting lists or NHS budgets. All medical treatments are administered by GMC registered Doctors.

You do not need to be registered with us to be seen by our doctors. However, through our range of Patient Healthcare Plans the IGP offer greater flexibility, regular health checks and screenings for early detection and treatment. This enables you, your family and your company to get the right advice when needed through independent opinion and if necessary specialist referral.
