The Independent General Practice (IGP) is a company that provides private healthcare services and professional patient care, treatment & advice to individuals, families and businesses. Founded in 2004, IGP's goal was to establish an independent private GP surgery in Cardiff, which would offer an alternative healthcare solution. IGP became Wales' first exclusively full-time private GP practice and was also the first private GP practice to register with the Health Inspectorate Wales (HIW), allowing IGP to treat children from birth.
Following the initial success of the Cardiff City Centre practice, IGP opened clinics in Cardiff Gate, Bridgend, Newport, Swansea and Bristol. The Cardiff Gate surgery qualified for hospital status in 2012, allowing IGP to perform specialist treatments. Over the years, IGP has incorporated new treatments and services and now provides physiotherapy, Medico-Legal, Occupational Health, Heart Screening and Cosmetic treatments.
IGP's GP services include; consultations online and in person, HGV, visa, insurance and wellness medical reports and a pathology/screening services. IGP also provides vaccinations to assist in the prevention of illnesses contracted in adulthood, such as shingles, and childhood conditions, such as chickenpox, whooping cough, and meningitis, measles and HPV. IGP aims to give a comprehensive travel advice service, including an immunisation programme, advice on infections and health risks that travellers may encounter while abroad. We also offer advice relating to travel sickness, sun protection and DVT risk assessment.
The Independent Physiotherapy Service (IPS) is the branch of IGP providing physiotherapy services. Appointments are conducted at clinics in Cardiff Gate, Cardiff City Centre, Bridgend, Abertillery, Newport, Porth and Port Talbot. IPS provides treatments that are not available at most physiotherapy clinics such as specialist injections.
Ipsum Health is the occupational health branch of IGP, providing appointments in Bristol and Cardiff Gate, as well as onsite appointments to businesses across South Wales and the South West of England. Ipsum Health provide absence management reports, return to work medicals, pre-placement assessments, fitness medicals, vaccinations and onsite health promotion. As an occupational health provider and private GP service, Ipsum Health is in a unique position, being able to treat as well as advise.
IGP aim to see patients on the day that the enquiry is made. We also have evening surgeries for those who require appointments outside of standard work hours. Appointments are at least 20 minutes. However, more time can be made available with the doctor if required. Due to IGP's special relationships with consultants and specialists, IGP can arrange referrals or further diagnostic screenings significantly faster than you would expect on the NHS; usually within just a few days.Patient Information
