Single Measles Vaccine Information

Through the NHS parents have only been afforded two choices: to vaccinate with the triple MMR vaccine or not to. Many parents have had concerns about the triple vaccination program since the publication of Professor Wakefield's, now discredited, study; which raised concerns about the triple MMR vaccine. And so, there are many parents who are deciding to opt against the Triple MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) Vaccine leaving their children and other children vulnerable to serious illnesses. For this reason, we have decided to offer the single vaccines not only for the benefit of each child but also to increase the immunity levels in the community at large. As doctors and parents ourselves, we are confident of the safety of the triple MMR vaccination and have given it to our children aged 13 months and at pre-school.

Important Information

Please note that vaccine cost is the cost per dose to have the vaccine with a nurse and not a GP. There is an additional fee of £25 for the vaccine to be administered by a GP. Also, the number of doses required indicates the number of doses for a standard course. For instance, an accelerated course can impact the number of doses required.

Single Rubella & Mumps Availability

The Serum Institute of India (SII) have stopped manufacturing single rubella vaccines (R Vax). This mirrors what Sanofi Pasteur did with Rudivax (Rubella vaccine) in 2012 . The last batch produced will expire at the end of January 2015. Therefore, the single rubella vaccine will not be available after this date. The single Mumps vaccine has not been available since 2010. This means that only the single Measles vaccine, the Measles and Rubella combined vaccine and the MMR vaccine are now currently available.
